Read testimonials from parents and guardians about their experience at The Grove.

When I think of one word that describes The Grove, it is ‘nourishing’; the school nourishes young hearts and minds, encouraging each child along their own path. My first daughter suggested ‘home’ because The Grove community feels like a warm family. ‘Fun’ said her sister, due to the many special activities and dress-up days that charge imaginations, sparking joy and laughter.

We have always felt that the Grove is the right school for our two girls. Mr. Bennett did the school tour with us in 2015 and we haven’t looked back since! Having actively been a part of the diverse Grove community since 2016, what stands out the most for us over the years is our school’s constant commitment towards improvement. Whether it is more efficient communication, improving safety standards or being open to discussion about pretty much anything, the Grove has shown a willingness towards continuous positive development. We are grateful for creative teachers, dedicated groundstaff and a solid SGB. Our experiences at the Grove gives us hope for the future of our beautiful country because we have seen how, if, as parents, we help our school to lead strongly, we are creating good, kind and intelligent future citizens.

The Grove is not a school: it's a community. Every person working at the Grove is passionate about and dedicated to being invested members of this community. From the first time Mr Moses greeted our daughter by name to the countless nights the teaching staff have stayed after hours to coach us as caregivers, the Grove community has demonstrated that it's invested in supporting every child that attends this school in being the most excellent version of themselves. The teaching methods are innovative and tailored to individual children as far as possible. The values espoused are based in the beauty of South Africa's constitution. The skills children are encouraged to develop are crucial for the unknown futures they will face, and include resilience and critical thinking. The opportunities for parents to be involved in the education of their children are endless and diverse. This is a school for people who want to be involved in building a bright future for their children, and who recognise that this future can only work if we build it together, as a community. We are grateful and proud to be part of the Grove community.

From the first moment I stepped foot in the Grove Primary School it felt like an inclusive space where everyone, each child, each member of staff, is known and valued and loved. Now 4 kids later, I can honestly say that the Grove is not just a school, it is a community where children, and their families, find a safe space to grow and develop and flourish. My children have all struggled with learning challenges and yet they have always been celebrated and affirmed for being themselves. As a mom, I have experienced incredible support and guidance, especially in those moments when I have felt overwhelmed and uncertain. Grove has been a home for us, somewhere where we have discovered the joy of learning, grown friendships, learnt to be the very best version of ourselves and where there has always been someone to lovingly pick us up when we've fallen down.

The Grove is not just a primary school but a place where your child will be nurtured, challenged and celebrated. When our first child (now 14yr old) started at the Grove we were a bit nervous as she was not your typical kid and we worried how she would manage.

Not only did the teachers recognise that she required something different but adapted there teaching to help her along her way. She is now thriving both academically and socially in high school.

I personally cannot say enough about the Grove teachers- Class teachers, physical education teachers, coaches and support staff take the time to make each child feel welcomed, understood and supported. They go above and beyond their duties as teachers and dedicate many hours to ensuring our children have the best possible experience.

With three more children and three nieces at the school we are so grateful that each one is made to feel special while being challenged to be the best they can be.

The grove is a family of students, teachers, parents and community. It is a little slice of LOVE in a world that can be very tough. I am beyond thankful that my children have the privilege to be at a school they love and for the foundation they receive so that when they get to high school they are well adjusted and confident young people.

What sets the Grove apart for me is its diversity and how it represents our country in a small but meaningful way. I often wonder if we as a society can’t learn more from the teachers and students of the Grove as to how we can all raise each other up to be better human beings.
